Logo: Rather than a medical logo, the client and I collaborated on a unique theme. The logo was designed to place the practice in a setting, near Mt. Vernon in the Eastern Iowa Corridor. The simple silhouette of prairie grass reflects not only natural areas in the corridor, but also the values of a unique small college town such as Mt. Vernon. Color: Two colors from the blue-green family were chosen to strike a balance between the natural image and more traditional medical colors. Type/Font: The fonts were selected to unify the logo and balance the details in the drawing. The word Corridor is emphasized to reinforce the theme. Serif (or thick-thin) type is considered easier to read, and Health Care, Inc. is a subtle "thick-thin" so it's not too busy. Printing: All pieces are digitally printed on bright white cover and text, which is highly available. This way all pieces will match if re-ordered separately. Full color digital printing has impacted paper choice. In the past specialty paper stock helped add color or texture to one or two color printing. Fewer people are using specialty papers so they are less available, and sometimes a large order is required. |
